Short n' Natural
After a few minutes, raise your roots slightly with a hair pic to ensure even fullness and no gaps in your TWA. Just don't comb all the way through, or you'll remove your freshly defined curls.
Quick tip: atrActiva Shampoo and Conditioners provide supple starting ground for this curl definition.
Blond Bobs
Quick tip: This is best used on hair that has not been heat straightened.
Braid-Outs ![]()
slather on some Capilo La Aplanadora Leave-In,Whether you have loose waves or the tightest of afro curls – who would've thought that a little leave-in was what you needed to create long, wild, wavy curls? Forget curl defining puddings and gels alike.
Want soft-bodied curls that fingers can't resist playing with? Get washed and deep conditioned, then, with your hair soaking wet, take your first section, and slather on some La Aplanadora.
Work it all the way in, then seal in with castor oil or your favourite natural butter, whether it’s whipped shea or cupuacu. Make sure your hair feels smooth between your fingers by repeatedly smoothing your strands from root to tip, and adding more leave-in, then butter/oil, if necessary. Once feeling – not necessarily looking – smooth, braid the section to the ends before moving on to the next. Repeat until your hair is full of braids.
Air-drying takes anywhere between 6 -12 hours, depending on your hair's density, the climate and other factors. Once your braids are fully dry, unravel each section and separate to your desired volume look. Just remember the more you separate, the more volume your hair gets. :)
Quick tip: The amount of sections/braids you aim for should be influenced by a balance of your natural curl pattern and desired curl size. The tighter your natural curl, the more braids/sections. Some examples for reference: 17 max for tight waved curls; 12 to create looser curls on naturally tightly coiled hair; 4-6 for the same look on loosely curled hair). Ponytails
When it comes to slicking back stiff, rebellious hair, Capilo La Aplanadora Leave-In is the precursor to gel or pomade. This leave in moisturiser supplies our thirsty, uncooperative strands with the hydration needed to flex, stretch, twist and bend to our will. Just smooth through La Aplanadora Leave-In to stretch without all the strain, working it through section by section, root to tip. Next reach for the ponytail, apply your pomade as desired (BPT Brillantina is our fave for slicking back 4C hair), smooth on a little gel, and secure your hair into your ponytail. For extra smoothness, tie on a scarf for a few minutes afterwards. Enjoy the sleekness.
But most of all enjoy Capilo La Aplanadora Leave-In!
